#50254 Upgrade Instructions 1.3.5 > 2.0

Posted by raizscanlon on 18 June 2009 - 10:10 AM in Why CS-Cart

Oh. So I should go in search of another shopping cart that is willing to be more helpful? Kinda makes us stuck.

Do you have a more helpful answer than "I doubt if it ever be easy to migrate"?

Do you mean:

- Better to start a greenfield install.
- Don't bother migrating, it isn't worth it.
- It isn't easy unless you pay someone.
- The databases don't match at all so it's not worth the effort.

What is it that isn't making it easy?

Again, you must understand our frustration - as a current user, I would expect to have *some* idea of planning to keep up with upgrades.

Thanks for at least being honest!

#50251 Upgrade Instructions 1.3.5 > 2.0

Posted by raizscanlon on 18 June 2009 - 09:32 AM in Why CS-Cart

Will there be an official notification of a roadmap/plan for an upgrade script?

Seems silly not to help 1.3.5 users move with the times, since existing users are often the best contributors to development just by sheer usage.

I have my 2.0 installed running in parallel with 1.3.5 but would live to migrate ... once it is easy to do so!

Info pls?

Pretty please?

#43459 direct link to add a product

Posted by raizscanlon on 27 January 2009 - 12:33 PM in v1.x Configuration

OK I've had an excellent answer from the helpdesk - thought I'd post it here in case anyone else needs something similar:

Use a form like this (V1.3.5):

<form name="product_details_form_5" method="post" action="http://www.yoursite.com/store/index.php">
<input value="checkout" name="target" type="hidden">
<input value="add" name="mode" type="hidden">
<input value="5" name="product_data[5][product_id]" type="hidden">
<input name="product_data[5][amount]" value="1" type="hidden">

<a href="javascript:document.product_details_form_5_final.submit();"><img src="your-images-folder/add-to-cart.gif" alt="Your Store" width="250" border="0" height="70"></a><br>

<a href="javascript:document.product_details_form_5.submit();">Add To Cart</a>

<input value="5" name="product_data[5][product_id]" type="hidden">

uses the ID number of the product you want to add (just hover your mouse over the links in "Manage Products" in your admin panel and you'll see the product_id in the url)

<input name="product_data[5][amount]" value="1" type="hidden">

determines the quantity to be added to the cart (value="n").

I used both a text link AND a button image, but you could use just one or the other. You can see my example live here:

Note if you need more than one on the same page, then you'll need to have unique names for each form and also the javascript:document.submit such as:

form name="product_details_form_5_one"

form name="product_details_form_5_two"

I was also given the code for V2.0Beta, but I haven't tested it yet.
<form action="http://beta.cs-cart.com/index.php" method="post" name="product_form_899">
<input name="result_ids" value="cart_status,wish_list" type="hidden">
<input name="redirect_url" value="http://beta.cs-cart.com/index.php?dispatch=checkout.cart" type="hidden">
<input name="product_data[899][product_id]" value="899" type="hidden">

<input name="dispatch[checkout.add..899]" value="Add to cart" type="submit">

Hope that helps someone - it helped me!

#42346 Config: PPC adwords w/Advance option

Posted by raizscanlon on 06 January 2009 - 04:09 AM in v1.x Configuration

Yeah I just posted a thank you over at another thread that i really meant for this one - ooops. That dynamic add-on is exactly what I needed, as was the "literal" tagging as i couldn't see how to escape the smarty error I was getting (not super-familiar with all this smarty/literal stuff) - so many many thanks for figuring it out for me - saved me hours of work no doubt.

#42345 Google PPC Conversion Tracking

Posted by raizscanlon on 06 January 2009 - 04:06 AM in v1.x Configuration

Thanks Guys - I was looking for how to implement the Google Conversion Code (kept getting smarty errors and figured I must need something extra) and this little dynamic add-on is exactly what everyone needs to track at the keyword level for ROI - thanks again!

EDIT: Ooops - actually credit for the dynamic elements must go to this thread also referenced above - very very helpful:
