#75265 help with index of wrong pages

Posted by gabrieluk on 22 March 2010 - 08:18 PM in SEO

If it's installed in a subfolder (not as a subdomain) then you have to use the robots.txt in your root:

Disallow: /subfolder/image.php

You can't use a second robots.txt in the subfolder because you can't submit a "subfolder" in the Google Webmaster Tools.

oh...i see...but theres something you say i dont understand...

you can't submit a "subfolder" in the Google Webmaster Tools~~

I submited the subfolder to google webmaster tools and it has acepted.I describe what i did.
created webmaster account,inserted www.mydomain.com to the account.Verified the website with google.html file.After i registered wwww.mydomain.co.uk/shop and it was accepted.i also verified the subfolder /shop.
I did this more for the fact i was finding difficult to send only 1 sitemap xml to googles including two independent scripts(other cms plus cs cart).So i registered them independent,so i could use cs cart addon xml sitemap from SnoRocket and the addon from the other cms script.
Is that makes sense???:confused:

#75269 help with index of wrong pages

Posted by gabrieluk on 22 March 2010 - 08:46 PM in SEO

Yes, you're right I forgotten that it supports subfolders as well. In that case you should disallow the CSC subfolder in the root in the robots.txt

I dont know if this is good idea,since i need to insert the command disallow image.php in the robots.txt in the root FOLDER OF THE DOMAIN.even if the sub folder is registered as another website,google is not reading the robots.txt from cs cart,as you can see that my images are being indexed.....i feel a little confusion now...
i think even if they are registered as two sites,google still see them as in the same domain,just separated by the folder,so maybe,in this case google reads the FIRST robots.txt he founds in the domain ,independent if theres a second website in a subfolder

still confused...
im afraid to disallow the subfolder in root of the domain,as many pages are indexed and the site is ok with googles by now.Are you sure that if i dissalow the sub folder in the robots.txt in the root of the domain,that the SECOND robots.txt in the sub folder will be active??are you 100 per cent sure??so now you are saying i should have 2 robots.txt file...Any other developer could share its experience with us?

Hmmm... I see. And why do you use the image.php in the robots? I would use in your case that in the root robots file:

Disallow: /shop/image.php?object_type=
It will stop the robots to index all URLs ending with image.php?object_type= in the subfolder.

That works 100%.

SORRY iNDY ,but now you are reallllyyyy confusing me....we are not following anymore....you are giving me all the time dubious answers,I know you are trying to help me,but you are not following a line of tough...if you read,calm,this thread from the beginning and also read your answers,you will see that it doesnt make sense...Don't you agree?:neutral:

Also,there's something i don't understand regarding the sub domain...even if i have a sub domain example: store.mydomain.com , i still can acess the folder mydomain.com/store.
Is that correct?or should i do some redirect from /store to store.mydomain ?

#69560 how to install cs cart in a sub domain

Posted by gabrieluk on 05 February 2010 - 03:39 AM in General Questions

should look like the example below:

* Example:
* Your url is http://www.yourcompany.com/store/cart
* $config['http_host'] = 'www.yourcompany.com';
* $config['http_path'] = '/store/cart';
*
* Your secure url is https://secure.yourc...secure_dir/cart
* $config['https_host'] = 'secure.yourcompany.com';
* $config['https_path'] = '/secure_dir/cart';

Hi,
taking your example,it means that,in my case, the folder /cart,would be also the folder of the SUBDOMAIN www.cart.mydomain.com...
Is that correct?

#67149 My SSL Certificate has expired.

Posted by gabrieluk on 16 January 2010 - 04:40 AM in General Questions

I do not propose to renew the certificate because times are really tough and I currently do not accept PayPal or credit card payments.
I am currently requesting that buyers send cash through the mail.
( the last sentence was a flimsy joke )
I do not collect any sensitive information during registration.

SSL is a customer thing isn't it ?
The absence of it doesn't make hacking easier does it ?

didn't you learn anything from the "security" post?you need ssl to login safe in the admin panel

#64936 Number of Keywords?

Posted by gabrieluk on 22 December 2009 - 01:07 PM in SEO

7. SE take care on H1 tags too as very important. Each title in CS Cart is "H1".

Hy Indy,
When you say each title you refer to the "page title"?So,if i use a "h1" inside the product description,with a specific keyword phrase is bad?i will have duplicated "h1"?So should i apply "h2" inside the products description?
best regards,
Gabriel

hi,
i'm optimizing few pages to rank better in Google.I would like some advice regarding on page optimization in the product description.Is the product description behaves as the "body of the page"?so that means i can optimize product descriptions as i was optimizing an html page?
i heard that product title is already a h1.is that true?

#65049 S.e.o/S.e.f/ And long tail keywords(phrases)

Posted by gabrieluk on 23 December 2009 - 12:29 PM in SEO

Hi,
I'm optimizing a cs cart store for the search engines.I've been reading the forums of Cs community and i found that the main issue is SEF.Everyone talks about SEF as it was SEO.Look,i'm not the s.e.o guru,but with my studies in the topic,what i found,is that the most important for s.e.o is to find right long tail keywords(phrases) and internal and external link building.
So i would like to have some advice regarding this side of s.e.o,not including s.e.f ,that best suits CS cart.

#65061 S.e.o/S.e.f/ And long tail keywords(phrases)

Posted by gabrieluk on 23 December 2009 - 03:27 PM in SEO

hi Roban,
thanks for the tips.I have a little plan in my mind,so i will tell you briefly,and let's see what you think about it.
the site i want to optimize is composed of 19 categories,wich contains multiple products.I've been in other forums,especific for seo,and they told me that it's really hard to optimize a site that is composed of many different products.So my idea is to develop the site optimization based in only 5 categories.
the idea for on page optimization:

1.study this 5 products keywords,looking for long tail keywords.eg "buy the best red widgets uk","cheap blue widget uk","purchase yellow widget london".

2.optimize home page for this 5 products with few phrases

3.insert this phrases in the title tag of the respective products and categories

4.insert those phrases in the meta description and inside product page description

about internal link biulding

5.create anchor text with this keyword phrases,and insert in the product descriptions of ALL the other products that are NOT INCLUDED in the optimization

what you think?:rolleyes:
