Googlebot can't access your site

13 April 2013 - 03:46 AM

We are running Ultimate V3.0.6 and something odd is happening with Google trying to spider the site. We keep randomly getting emails similar to this:

Quote

http://www.littlefornow.com/: Googlebot can't access your site

Over the last 24 hours, Googlebot encountered 77 errors while attempting to access your robots.txt. To ensure that we didn't crawl any pages listed in that file, we postponed our crawl. Your site's overall robots.txt error rate is 100.0%.
You can see more details about these errors in Webmaster Tools.

Recommended action
If the site error rate is 100%:
  • Using a web browser, attempt to access http://www.littlefornow.com/robots.txt. If you are able to access it from your browser, then your site may be configured to deny access to googlebot. Check the configuration of your firewall and site to ensure that you are not denying access to googlebot.
  • If your robots.txt is a static page, verify that your web service has proper permissions to access the file.
  • If your robots.txt is dynamically generated, verify that the scripts that generate the robots.txt are properly configured and have permission to run. Check the logs for your website to see if your scripts are failing, and if so attempt to diagnose the cause of the failure.
If the site error rate is less than 100%:
  • Using Webmaster Tools, find a day with a high error rate and examine the logs for your web server for that day. Look for errors accessing robots.txt in the logs for that day and fix the causes of those errors.
  • The most likely explanation is that your site is overloaded. Contact your hosting provider and discuss reconfiguring your web server or adding more resources to your website.
  • If your site redirects to another hostname, another possible explanation is that a URL on your site is redirecting to a hostname whose serving of its robots.txt file is exhibiting one or more of these issues.

After you think you've fixed the problem, use Fetch as Google to fetchhttp://www.littlefornow.com/robots.txt to verify that Googlebot can properly access your site.

When I visit the robots.txt file in my browser I am shown the file just fine.

When I go into Webmaster Tools and fetch as Google it fails.

Ultimate is installed on littlefornow.com, we have two other storefronts greendiaperstore.com and angelbunz.com. When I go into WMT for Angel Bunz and tell it to fetch the SAME robots.txt file it succeeds! I don't get it.... any ideas?

Redirect on Admin Login Page

06 April 2013 - 09:33 PM

We're getting a redirect loop when trying at access the admin on one of my clients websites (error is at bottom of message).

It just started yesterday and we have not made any changes to the server except that I did upload an addon two days ago but it didn't work so I deleted all the files (it was my abandoned cart addon).

For some reason I still get into the admin area on my computer in chrome, but not if I open a new incognito window or try another browser. No one else can get on.

I've tried clearing the cache, checking .htaccess file for redirects, deleting the cache file on the server, changing the cache type from file to MySQL, my server techs have verified all the ownership of all the files is correct, repaired the MySQL database and I've tried a few other random things I found here on the forums to no avail.

CS-Cart is suppose to be working on fixing an issue with the Product Features but I don't think they have done anything on that in the last week or so.

I've had my server tech trying to figure something out all night but they don't know CS-Cart so it hasn't really gone anywhere.

Anyone have any suggestions? We are running Ultimate 3.0.6 and I also have a dev Pro 3.0.4 and numerous other live V2 Pro stores running on this server and nothing is wrong with any of them.

This is the error I get in Chrome:

This webpage has a redirect loop

The webpage at https://www.littlefo.../lfnbackend.php has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.
Here are some suggestions: Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

301 Redirect for different URLs in Ultimate

07 March 2013 - 01:43 AM

How does anyone handle setting up 301 redirects for different URLs in Ultimate? My understanding is all stores in Ultimate share the main .htaccess file, so if you share products and change something in all stores how do you setup the redirection for each store?

Example:

I had a product at with the ending URL /product.html for three store fronts. I then changed that products URL to be /detailed-product.html and I need to redirect it for all three store fronts, how would i do that?

Custom Development Needed: Zoovy to CS-Cart

18 January 2013 - 09:54 PM

I have a client that currently uses Zoovy (http://www.zoovy.com) and we need to see if there is a developer out there that an export all their orders, customers and product into CS-Cart. If this is something you can do please send me a PM or reply to this post. I know for sure you can export products into a CSV file, but I am waiting to hear back about Customers and Orders.

Thanks!

Short Description - Turn OFF HTML Editor?

12 November 2012 - 10:46 PM

Remember when you used to be able to choose to use the HTML editor or not when doing descriptions and blocks? I miss that, especially with working with data feeds where you cannot have HTML code in your fields.

Anyone know of a way to turn off the HTML editor just for the short descrption (or bring back the option to pick to use it)? Or have any better ideas? Currently the stupid editor puts in <p> tags even when I go into the HTML view and remove all code.

Thanks!
