Limit To Number Of Promotions Loaded / Imported?

Hi,

Has anyone encountered a limit to the number of promotions loaded or run into problems when importing a bulk number of promotions.

A client of mine requested coupon codes loaded for two of their websites for their membership base to redeem at checkout. I imported 78,000 for the one website and 29,000 for the other website. The website with 78,000 promotions affected the 'add to cart' and 'cart' with an internal server error message and the website with 29,000 promotions has become exceptionally slow when 'add to cart' and 'checkout' are requested.

Is there a way to increase capacity for promotions loaded or is there an actual limit which one has to work within?

Many thanks

Matt

Sorry meant to mention both versions are 4.3

Promotions are evaluated at every add to cart or change in cart content. I would strongly suggest that you use gift certificates for that volume of data versus promotions. I'm guessing these coupons are used for marketing sites like Groupon or other mass-marketing where someone buys something and they get a code to be redeemed.

Large numbers of promotions will be inherently slow at add to cart and during checkout. Not the places you want performance issues.

Appreciate the feedback and suggestion and yes, performance has been giving issues due to the volume. I didn't think to try gift certificates but will rectify. Thanks again.
