I am seeking for suggestions. I have a cs-cart store v3.xx. I wanted to start it fresh using the latest edition instead of upgrading. I want to create/add selected products only to the new store, but keep the existing customer profile and order history. Is that possible? What will be the best approach for it. How reliable does the store import work? Thanks for your suggestion in advance.
To say the truth, the upgrade is a more preferable method. You won't forget any important data during the store upgrading.
But you may use import too.
One of our developer has made a special add-on for orders and customers data import from 3 to 4 CS-Cart version recently. This add-on was made for a client who wanted to keep up to date data after store upgrading to 4 version. He didn't want to upgrade store in a second time. You may contact us and we will examine your store. It is possible that with add-on will be useful for you.

Please pay attention to the Store Import module from CS-Cart team. Unfortunately it is not compatible with 4.6.1 version yet. But you can import data to fresh 4.4.3 installation and make few upgrades up to 4.6.1
Unfortunately it is not possible to transfer data with built-in export/ import functionality without code modifications
