Add-Ons By Simtech Development: Shipping Estimate

Dear Friends,

I am glad to present you the Shipping Estimate add-on. It allows to display a shipping fee estimation block on the product page so that the user or customer can check/find out the shipping fee.

If shipping costs and options are made completely transparent as early as possible in the customer journey, this will certainly prevent a lot of unpleasant surprises and abandoned carts.

The CS-Cart Shipping estimate add-on lets you add information about Estimated delivery time, Shipping cost of each Transport company available in your store to keep customers informed as to how long each shipping method takes to ship an order and how much it costs.

The add-on enables you to automatically show the cheapest shipping method right on the product page.

The add-on is totally compatible with our IP Geolocation by MaxMind and Geolocation by Google add-ons. Enable geolocation feature to determine customer's location and set up shipping methods for places you ship to. These geolocation extensions for CS-Cart will automatically determine the current location of a customer and suggest proper shipping methods.

How it works

As we mentioned above, the Shipping estimate add-on is compatible with IP Geolocation by MaxMind and Geolocation by Google add-ons. If you do not have these extensions, the location of the user will be taken from the user’s profile. This means that if the customer has not filled in the billing address or checkouts as a guest, they will not see a block with the shipping estimate.

Below, you will see an example how it works with the Geolocation by Google add-on. The Shipping estimate add-on takes the data from Google Geolocation and displays the cheapest shipping method for customer’s location.

On the settings page of the add-on, you will see the ability to select the position (on the right, at the bottom or not display) of the block with the shipping estimate on the product page. Besides, you can select if the delivery period will be shown in the block.

Below, you will see how it looks at the bottom of a product details page.

The add-on is compatible with CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor 4.3.2 and above. Need compatibility with another CS-Cart version? Contact us.

Buy the Add-on

I will be glad to answer all your questions about the add-on.

Bought this, and it's a good add-on. However, it needs some improvements:

1. What is confusing is that it doesn't take into account "next levels" of shipping costs. Say we have free shipping on orders over 50 euro, and I already have 100 euro in my cart. It will still show shipping costs on the product page, which is confusing. You could phrase this like:

Shipping: Free (because you already have 100 euro in your cart. Shipping this product alone, would cost XXX")

2. Another idea I think would make this much better, is to add something like a free shipping notification. For example:

"You still need €86.60 more for FREE delivery"

which would also open up the possibility for a sentence like:

"Add this product to your cart, and you'll get free shipping!"

3. It would be cool if we could rephrase things a bit. At the moment the info takes multiple lines and it looks a bit dull. Example og what a text could like like: "We ship to "destination X" with FedEx for only €10"

4. Could you make it so that the shipping costs on the cart page are also automatically calculated? Because even with this add-on it still says Shipping Cost: Calculate

That would be great - thanks.

Hello!

Thank you for your comment.

Do you mean these charges?

If there is only one minimum shipping method in the block, right?

Yes, we will look into this.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

1. Yes I mean those charges

2. That, and the shipping level of the previous point where shipping costs 0
3. Yes

4. Great!

Hello!

Thank you, we will think what we can do.

Hello!

We have an update for you. Now if the customer calculates shipping on the product page, the shipping method with minimum rate will be also defined on the cart page.

I would like to get following result. Not get in 2 days but if its 2017 12 17 today, add on would say est delivery 2017 12 19

Hello!

Thank you for your feedback. We will examine the possibility of implementing this.

Hello!

We have added the tracking of search bots to reduce the number of the requests and the server response time.

Hello!

If the customer's location failed to be determined, the “We were unable to determine your city” text will be displayed in all the blocks where the city was supposed to be. It will allow your customers easily specify their location and see the shipping cost.

I would like to remind you that the Shipping Estimate add-on displays shipping cost on the product page so that the customer can check the shipping fee before going to checkout page.

It cut me off from seeing it.

I've bought and installed it.

Is there a way to have two boxes for "Destination" where one is figured out automatically and the other can be filled in?

I have customers who want to ship to a different place than were they are using the computer quite often. Also for gifts, etc.

I'd also like to adjust the width of the text and possibly style it a bit more.

Hello!

Thank you for the purchase.

By "Destination" you mean the location that is determined by Google or Maxmind, right? Then customers can just change it and see the shipping cost for the new location.

Yes. So that they have a manual way to determine the shipping destination.

This is already available. Customers can change their destination by clicking on it. Please have a look:

Hello!

Only the automatic calculation of the shipping cost on the cart page was implemented. I will ask about the text like "We ship to "destination X" with FedEx for only €10" again, it looks simple but not implemented for some reason. The rest 2 requests will require more complicated changes, but I will also ask again.

This is already available. Customers can change their destination by clicking on it. Please have a look:

Sorry, this link to click is not appearing on my site. Only the unlinked "Destination: New York" with nothing to click to change it.

In fact nothing shows up unless I am logged in. Most of my customers don't log in first. While I understand you have an automated system that I can buy, it would be nice to have a simple place to add a destination and get an estimate without it.

Even if I am logged in, it would be better to have the estimate being handled in the short product description window, rather than on a hidden tab. ie be able to change the destination there.

Also when I click on the "See all Shipping Methods" instead of a pop up with other methods and costs, all I get is a static window with the shipping methods. No other estimates. Say if someone wants it overnight rather than free..

This is a new version of the site being developed.

Hello, Jack!

Yes, if you do not have geolocation add-on, the shipping estimate will be displayed only for the authorized users because we do not know their address before they log in. If you want to show shipping estimate for guests, you need one of our geolocation add-ons: Geolocation by Google or IP Geolocation by MaxMind. Both are compatible with Shipping Estimate add-on.

Yes, nor can you pick another shipping method from the available methods. While the automatic geo location is a nice idea, I'm afraid this add-on wasn't thought through completely. At least for me.

I've submitted a ticket asking for a refund.
