Anyone finished with the Wired Tree to Liquid Web server migration? Mine is about to happen and was wondering if anyone had any tips or problems to share. For the very first read-only copy test the store ran into the "service not available" message. I was hoping maybe this was just due to an uncleared store cache.

We went through it and in the end were OK but had lots of downtime. They estimated around 30 minutes and it ended up being around 4 hours and I spent hours on the phone getting everything fixed.

Very frustrating.

We were with WiredTree from when they started and they were the best when they only had 3 guys working there Zac, Adam and Joe - then they grew and...

CS Cart has been the opposite we have been with them from the beginning when the software had some challenges but now it is much improved and I am happy we stayed with them.

Any tips for me on this? Mine is scheduled to move tomorrow. Using latest version of cs-cart, php 7, dedicated server to dedicated server. Only software that is different i think is this MySQL 5.5 (on wired tree) to MySQL MariaDB 10 on the new server. What were some of the things that needed to get fixed???

Thanks

No special tips the normal be sure of a good backup watch them every minute like a hawk.

After the migration check that PHP etc has been completely loaded as needed.

If downtime is too much complain to the supervidor on duty.

The problems will be small but they don't follow detailed checklists or focus very well unlike their advertsied "Heroic service"

I hope that all goes well for you - let us know.

Been 18 hours since the move, the cs-cart site works. Only had a problem on another site with incompatible wordpress plugin. Before the move I gave them a list of cs-cart requirements to make sure the server was setup correctly. They had to fix a few of them so maybe that helped keep the site running.

On the downside, been bombarded by thousands of server emails and they haven't answered the support dialog we had going in 12 hours. Wiredtree never took that long, especially with a move in progress. So, that's a bit troubling.

Did you have to do anything to get the store email working? Mine doesn't appear to be working and cs-cart just says "internal server error".

"they haven't answered the support dialog we had going in 12 hours."

So much for "Heroic service"

I had the below error that it took them quite a while to fix.

"SMTP_Allow list for the firewall. With CSF the firewall we deploy with every server it requires that PHP scripts use a local email account to send out mail."

RUN!!!1

Long time WT was moved to LW. What a nightmare. They literally cost me thousands in lost sales. They do not help you. They do not support you.

I created a ticket because my server was down once again and the took 12 hours to respond with "it looks fine" its CSCART.

I moved to Knownhost and now everything is perfect!

Take my advice, RUN as fast as you can.

They seem to be fond of replacing .htaccess with a cpanel generated one which causes any SEO redirect to fail.  At least that's what I saw on one site I was asked to investigate.  Permissions were also bad so the cache couldn't be cleared via the cart.  Once done manually (rename var/cache) the site was able to get beyond a 503. error.

Yes, it hasn't been very pleasant so far. Lots and lots of waiting. 24 hour waiting since the migration guy said he was going to pass my issue to the support guy since he didn't know how to fix it. That was one thing I liked about Wiredtree, they didn't take long to respond and you could usually get someone who knew what they were doing and could get the issue fixed quickly. This is not off to a good start.

I went through a checked most of the permissions, what's the var/cache folder permission supposed to be?

Anyway, still have issue with google recaptcha not working and the newsletter addon can't save or send anything without server error. I'm also getting bombarded by memcache errrors from cpanel monitoring:

Service Name

memcached

Service Status

failed ?

Notification

The service memcached appears to be down.

Service Check Method

The systems command to check or to restart this service failed.

Number of Restart Attempts

2,288

Anyone know how to handle this or what's going on....the LW guy didn't.

A number of their staff mentioned that the migrations were overloading their support abilities.

In the end what i did after dowtime was losing me money was to insist on a supervisor and then they got some experienced staff to help and step by step mostly everything was OK.

I am not sure about moving as my experience has been once problems are solved they don't often come up again.

Yes, once everything is fixed I'll probably be fine, but Knownhost looks good since it's actually cheaper and this LW dedicated server is total overkill for my sites anyway.

Just found out LQ forgot to transfer my Cpanle backups and S3 backups settings were lost.

Hopefully all will be well soon...

Took a look at Knownhost they don't seem to have 24 hour telephone support which is a no go for me.

Maybe I am wrong?

The support via tickets has been amazing so far for me! I wouldn't worry to much!

No thank you I don't type very fast and I work long hours I want to pickup the phone when I have a problem 24 hours and get a quick response. Too often I see delays and problems from emails. I understand that your style is different.

In the end I may have to pay more money to get better service.

Sometimes by paying more you save money and time which is money...

A reality most times lost on people.....

But even better is:

"Sometimes by paying more you save money and time which is money..."

And then to continue the thought sometimes you don't need to pay more or not much more but it is better to go with a specialist.

An example currently we use a large company for all imports and exports they are OK for exports and delivery but not so good for imports as in correct customs clearance.

I am now looking for a good specialist customs broker to get things done correctly the first time. It will cost more but save a lot of my time...

Once I got hooked up with the regular support guy, he fixed all the issues I was having without much trouble. The main problem was that the migration guy didn't really know how to fix anything. Everything seems to be fine now.

I'm using both Liquid Web and Knownhost and I had no problems with both, the support is really good, but I'm always using tickets, so I can't say anything about their phone line.
