The Master Products add-on allows you to share the product base among multiple vendors. There is no more need to care for the store content (e.g. tracking the product descriptions), no need to pre-moderate vendor changes. The product name and description are unique and added by the admin, whereas price and quantity vary from vendor to vendor.
When the product base is shared, each vendor can select the products to sell. They define their own prices and quantity. That’s it, they are ready to sell.
When a product is sold by several vendors, customers can see a comparison table on the product details page. They can compare the prices and available quantity to decide which vendor to choose.

Have you added the capability for vendors to update/change quantities/prices by file upload yet. I would really like to use this add-on but it's not very useful if a vendor has to update quantities item by item.

Not yet. This feature is in our To-do list. But we have implemented another feature: now vendors can add their own products.
I would think that being able to import stock and price changes would be crucial to any vendor that has more than 10-20 items on a marketplace. I put over 3000 items on Amazon and I couldn't imagine having to go through each item to update them evertime an item is sold. I like how it shows each vendor that sells the item along with their price etc., It would be nice if MVE always did that when multiple vendors sell the same product sku.

Bill, I totally agree with you. Export/Import is very important for every store. We will add this feature as soon as possible.
Oleg, I believe the csv/xml import add-on works with the master products database. I repurchased the master products db and tried it with the XML and CSV Import module. Maybe you could test it as I only have limited experience with CS-Cart. I am only using it to update prices and quantities. I am getting ready to go live with my cart and this would be good news if it works without issues.
We have added the Export all products setting for vendor's administrators on the export products page. If disabled, only the products that belong to vendor will be exported.
Master Products add-on makes it easier for vendors to sell in your store. Vendors can just choose products from your catalog and start selling.
