I would like to see the ability for vendors to create their own tax rules. If you scale a marketplace to several hundred vendors you would need a team just to create tax rules for all the different vendors. In the U.S. sales tax in most states drills down to the county level.

I can recommend you our TaxCalcs by TaxJar add-on. It allows you to calculate the taxes automatically for the state, county, city and special taxing district level. So you and your vendors will not need to update the taxes.
Tax.jar is pretty reasonable pricing if they're data is accurate. $19usd/month for detailed tax data is a bargain especially if you are MVE and have tax jurisdictions all over the place.
As the markeplace admin has to setup tax rates for each vendor, would taxjar be purchased by just the marketplace or by all of the the vendors?
