4.1.4 Upgrade To Latest Version 4.5.1

Hi,

I have a client with a pretty big store on 4.1.4

350,000 Orders

13,500 Products

150,000 Users

What is the most effective workflow to bring the website to 4.5.1 with the minimum amount of downtime?

Looking for opinions / ideas?

Currently my plan is to duplicate the store and do increment updates to the latest, but with the sheer volume of data its an absolute age to do, and we risk missing out on any orders placed in this time.

Looking for any suggestions form people on how they think we could do this?

Thanks

If you don’t have any design conflicts, should only take 2 hours or so to go through the 12 or so upgrades. Suggest you bite the bullet and go through the proper process and then don’t fall so far behind.

For real commercial sites I recommend staying a step or two behind unless there’s really something you gotta have our been waiting on. Still, I would let more adventurous types go first and watch the forums for issues.

You can make clean installation of 4.5.1 and try to use the Store Import module.

You will be able to check result and actualize data then.

But if you have a lot of custmizations, this way is not good.

That's why I recommend real businesses stay at least a step behind the "gotta have latest" folks.
