You must be following US politics.?

All you need to do is fire the wrong person and hire the right person for the job like the US did. :-P

John

It's nearly two years, I don't think CS are interested, though they should be coz potentially it is a massive selling and keeping (existing customers) point.

Maybe you should look at something more realistic like seeing bigfoot on your lawn!!!! LOL

Seriously I wish for same thing.

There a lots of tiny little things that need to get fixed that will greatly improve CSC. I have been working on migration from V3 to V4 for months now. A lot of the delay has been due to incompatibilities of addons we had developed that really should be core items. Some of the items are depricated features. When I started using CSC 6 years ago I had high hopes that CSC would become the cart I wanted but it is still falling short for seemingly little things like:

product unit price

product availability statements

ability to tick a check box to select subcategories for product filters

restrict products from specific shipping methods

import of category seo names

import of orders

import of all product fields

import of all category fields

import of pages

dynamic filling of subcategory menu - depricated

admin product search - all words, any words etc.

make customer product reviews usable like you see on amazon

make products easy to add to reviews

and many many more......

I would rather pay a little more for a cart than constantly pay to have repeatedly to have addons fixed because CSC changed

cs-cart has split in to two companies, one that does cs-cart other that does paid addons for it. So I would not expect much of new features to be included in cart.. Their focus is on cart that can be updated easily, usability from sellers view is not their priority at all..

I still miss version 1 that had select boxes for options and add to cart on the categories page.

Easier for customers who buy lots of items.

But it's a small thing and I do really like cscart.

Well, your answers lay here

http://forum.cs-cart...ine-of-cs-cart/

People were and possibly still do sell stuff using 1x and 2x, how 4x cs-cart has evolved to better present, describe product you can argue.. This forum is full of good ideas but most go unnoticed..

For what I see and feel last two years much of the effort was put to side products that did not succeed (my opinion). If I were head of the company I would raise only one question why is my main product not in top 5 among competitors in charts..

Can not agree with you.

Usability from sellers view is our focus too.

I think cs-cart 4 is a great basis and they made huge improvements. Fix and improve some things like options (which they are doing as we speak) and you have one excellent cart.

I think you guys are being too negative - go ahead, try magento, or whatever and I guarantee you'll come back crying ;)

A cart should be basic, fast and major things should work well and cs-cart mostly does this. Don't forget what is a feature for 1 person is a bug for another. There are literally tons of possible options.

I think of it like this: cs-cart is the basis. then use add-ons and customization to get the cart you want, so I am glad they split up and have simtech to make lots of nice add-ons for good prices.

Agreed, once product options are improved its gonna be even better. Note they have already made improvements to things like import export of combinations etc.

Nah - Too much credit is given.

What did we lose when we went from V3 to V4 AND WHY???

Product Filters no longer show product count next to them - Gone - WHY (Perhaps to increase speed but why not give us the choice of of using the feature)

Dynamic filling of menus - Used to show subcategories of the active category - Gone - WHY

Admin Area - Removed "Search All words" from - Say What!!! - Gone - WHY

Ability to import Categories with a ":" in their name - Needed for those of us that sell products that are format based like heat shrink, projection screens etc. like 3:1 Heat Shrtink Tubing or 2:35 Projection Screens - Gone - WHY

Those are a few examples of things I know about. I am sure the list is much longer.

Now ask yourselves and your customers that you build shops for:

What are the key search fields you want in admin to search orders and 90% will undoubtedly say "customer name", "email" AND "Order Number". But yet we get "customer name", "email", "Manager" and "Order Total". What is "Manager"? Manager and Order Total should be in the advanced section and Order Number should be staring you in the face.

You can't just just give someone or a company a pass because you can get by with something. Some things should be just included.

You really have to go over each feature and grade the level of implementation to give them a final score.

- For Instance the Search Engine is a big fat Negative Feature - You either have to buy a great addon like Cart-Power's or use a paid for Searchise which in it inceptioon had issues as well. I no longer use that and have no idea what the status of that is.

- Product Reviews - Does anyone use this? It is terrible. Should be a negative but since it is not required like search I would say the score for reviews would be a Zero.

- The menus are also way behind the times. Score a  4

- Importing is the best way to work in admin. It saves a ton of time and it also needs a lot of work. V4 has some improvements but we are still a long ways away. Score a 5

- Document Editor - Hey pretty cool - Score 7 maybe 8

- Email Templates - Ughhh - Seems like an afterthought - Why do I have customer and Admin? Many of them will be the same. Give me a check box Cusomter/Admin or Both if necessary. Why can't I have a nice shipping notification with tracking. It should be able to include the nice Packing slip I created with the document Editor - Score 1 Why

Sure fixing Product options might a good step but hey this really isn't fixing that much.

The biggest most useful improvement I have seen over the years has been import of product options and reponsive themes.

CSC is taking the wrong approach in splitting the company and resources. The focus of the company should be to improve the product so that it is a player in the website shopping cart solutions not on developing/selling fixes for the product. There are plenty of good resources already to fix the problems. As an end-user/slash moderate code hacker myself, I will always choose to use a third party to develop fixes. Why pay the same company to fix issues they created or did not implement completely. Seems wrong to me.

Yet I am still a dedicated user, not because It is the best solution but because I already have too much time and money invested already.

Hopefully we do not have to jump through hoops again going from V4 to V5 like we did for V3 to V4.

I'd like to see the support tickets being dealt with in a more pro-customer way. Having had a couple of tickets now for issues that I paid support credits for that introduced more bugs than existed before and being told that it's a minor issue that may take 45 days for a fix is totally unacceptable.

Being a busy company I wanted a hassle free update to the new version, I could have done it myself and introduced bugs for free but instead I get the professional company that owns the software to do it and am left with a website my customers can't order products from because there's an options combination bug - option combinations are a major aspect of cart software, not minor. There's no form of sympathy or empathy for your paying subscribers at all, terrible customer support.

That's now twice I have paid for support, twice that support has been a let down and twice that it's cost me in credits for breaking a working website. That's also how a business loses customers.

Of course I am up for improving a product, but sometimes I get the feeling on these forums that you think everything is perfect with other platforms and CSC is the only with issues.   The grass is definitely not always greener on other platforms.

I think CSCART has made steady improvements over the time I have been using it and the platform seems more stable now.  I jumped in the early releases of version 3 and its definitely gotten better.

Thats not to say it can't be improved, but its easy to customise and integrate with other platforms and the learning curve is quite small.  I have recently spent some time with Magento 2 and the learning curve is quite steep.

Does that make it a better product?  I don't know, it depends on what you are using it for.

My suspicisions are that CSC would work for the majority of businesses out of the box and people should probably spend more time focusing on their front-end user experience and marketing of their products..

Thats not to say that CSC couldn't be improved, but I think there seems to be a culture of CSC bashing in these forums which isn't very productive.

cs-cart is really good platform, but there are lots of areas that can be improved.

Sometimes I wonder why developers simply ignore all good ideas this forum generates, sure they made user voice but check how many of ideas were realized in last 5 years?

How much time did developers invested in merchium and twigmo? Where are they now? Apparently twigmo cannot compete with responsive.

Roadmap is cs-cart future, unfortunately nothing there..

Developers just over-wright the code so it would be piece of art, little care for end user experience.

Half year ago I reported that for documents editor OrderVariable.php should not use general word __('invoice'

better something like __('invoice-title' so user has more freedom like "Invoice AB Nr." $doc_id

Silently in 452 all OrderVariable.php was re written but not that area...

Can not agree with you.

Usability from sellers view is our focus too.

If that is the case why after cs-cart upgraded my store from 2.1.4 to 4.5.2(sp2) can I not edit or create products, why were there news item feeds from the 2.1.4 product in the 4.5.2(sp2) blog.  I deleted the new item feed from the blog now the blog doesn't even work. When I reported the latter as soon as I was able to access the Admin section of my install, nothing was done to fix the problem.

The upgrade took nearly 4 weeks to happen, after noting initially that it was urgent because the original server was being taken out of service.  After that period one would expect that a handover of a working shop/store would be available.  Aesthetics are one thing but the backend and engine are another.  Nothing, it seems, was checked after the 3+ week upgrade was done.

When I go to my account, because any credits I had in there were used up with the upgrade, I just get a message as per attached snapshot.

I appreciate the people I deal with, I just wish there was more due care and attention to the requirements of the customer.

I had a 3rd party do an upgrade for me several years ago to 2.1.4 it was done within 1 day, I did not have to close the store for longer than half a day and all functionality was checked thoroughly before the site was handed over.  I was also provided a guarantee that should there be an issue I was welcome to contact them and any issues relating to the upgrade would be fixed.

I expected at least this from the people who write the app. Just to confirm there was no difference in the cost of my first 3rd party upgrade to that of cs-cart.

I do have a 3rd party now looking at my issues because cs-cart themselves are more interested in my topping up my account rather than addressing issues that were a result of a 'service' I paid for.

I have been a user of cs-cart since V1.3.4.
