Using Hidpi For Existing Images

Hi all

I have just enabled the HiPDI addon for CS-Cart to fix my blurry thumbnail issue.

I just find it incredibly annoying that you have to literally reupload the same image to each product just to get it to create a 2x image.

SURELY there's a way where this can be done automatically for all products? I don't like the idea of going through 300 products to do this

You can re-upload images for all product using default Import/Export feature (http://docs.cs-cart.com/4.3.x/user_guide/manage_products/import_export/product_image_import.html ).

Note that when the HiDPI displays support add-on is enabled the system serves original (big) images in case the device with the Retina display is used. Otherwise, system serves twice smaller images. If you wish to use this add-on, specific images should be uploaded to your products, namely, images in high-resolution.

So you're saying I should EXPORT all images first

And then IMPORT them?

So you're saying I should EXPORT all images first

And then IMPORT them?

Yes, if you want to re-upload the images. Please note that this will reduce all images in the store twice.

That's a bit ambiguous

I should export all images

Do I then delete all images inside CS-Cart?

Or just literally export and import

Just export and import. Product images will be updated ("Clean up" option should be checked on the import page)

So I've done all this

Client still not happy

Images are blurry on the mobile device - specifically on the product page

For example, a Perfect Pear Large

See on the category page

http://missmartini.com.au/store/earrings/

It's clear there as it's using the main image (only way I could get it to work)

When you click on it to go in to it

http://missmartini.com.au/store/earrings/crystal/a-perfect-pear-large/

It's blurry.

As far as we see, the size of the detailed image is 250x250px and the thumbnail size on the product page is 500x500px. Image is blurry because system has to stretch the original image to generate the thumbnail. Try uploading larger image to resolve the issue

MurrinMedia, thank you for raising this issue! I've investigated the links to your website and found out that a thumbnail image on product page is blurry despite the fact that the original file is large enough to generate HiDPI thumbnail for product page. The following page is a perfect example: http://missmartini.com.au/store/earrings/statement/a-turquoise-dream/

Also, I've made a screenshot with the thumbnail image on the product page next to scaled original image: https://www.evernote.com/l/AHVD49SWYCRCUbdoJvcUTrwehkoxIxO9QBM - the difference in quality of the images is obvious.

Please advise which settings MurrinMedia has to use to get the thumbnail on product page crisp?

Could anyone please help with the above? CS-Cart team? Simtech? eCom? Deeply appreciated!
