Apply Values To All The Selected Products Breaks Categories

It might be just a feature in cs-cart that just does it jobs as it might have been created, however our experience with it was not a pleasant surprise.

We previously assigned a few products to one particular category and by a few I mean about 300 products. These however we were looking for an way to assign a portion of these products in bulk to an additional category by first

select these products that we wish to assign to one additional particular category and then update them in bulk and add an category to these products.

That failed miserable when we tried the Appy values to all the selected products functionality and add check the checkbox next to Categories and then apply these products to this category. The result was that all products previously already assigned to a certain category where de-coupled from that category and replaced by the newly added category instead of what we wanted that was simply that the products would be assigned also to this additional category.

We would like to see that there was a less time consuming method to assign selected products to categories without disconnecting those products from a the categories to which they previously where connected to. Certain products may fall in more than one category.

If I understand you correctly , you may be better exporting product code and category, then add column, secondary categories, as below

category1///category2///category3///

doesnt take long

No what I am trying to say is that you cannot in bulk add new categories to products you selected which would safe me and perhaps other cs-cart merchants a lot of time. You sure cannot do it by the method / option I describe above without uncoupling the categories that these selected products previously have been assigned to. That is a real shame.
