When I offer a coupon code to a customer for a cart discount it all works ok.
But, if one of the products has already a catalogus discount applied a wrong price gets calculated in the cart.
For instance:
Normal price product is € 100,-
Catalogus discount 10% makes € 90,-
coupon discount is also 10% should make € 81,- in the cart.
but the cart gives € 50.
So what is happening here?
Could you mistakenly made one of your bonuses literal amount versus percentage?
What version are you running?
If you have found a bug, work with helpdesk to get it solved. But first you should double check for pilot error.

Very thank you for taking the time for answering this question.
I also tried to reproduce this on the demo and the demo works fine indeed.
I forgot to mention I sell aparel with options. Don't know if that matters.
So it should be something with the setup of the site.
I'll try to remove all promotions and start over, maybe that helps.
Solved. Removed all promotions and started again. Now it works ok.
Must have been something wrong with one of the promotions used.

Note that each option has the Stop other rules option.
The Stop other rules option means the way a promotion is applied. If this option is enabled, the promotions with lower priority will not be applied. This option does not affect the promotions with the priority that is higher that the priority of the created promotion. The Stop other rules option affects only the promotion of the same type (catalog promotion or cart promotion) as the created one.

You get zero amount even if the Stop other rules option is enabled? Try to play with the promotions priority
