Cart-Power Add-On: Product Packages

Dear Friends,

We’re glad to introduce you the “Product packages” add-on.

CS-Cart "Product Packages" add-on allows you to sell products in packages, i.e., when several products are grouped together and sold as a set. A product can be in several product packages and sold separately. It is of particular use, when products are bought together, rather than separately. Besides, you can offer your customers special discounts which are applied only to certain product packages. Add-on will be useful for those who sell sets of flatware (forks, spoons, plates, cups), sets of clothes (trousers, shirts, ties) and others.

General features:

  • ability to buy several products from one page for customers
  • ability to choose options for each product in a product package
  • works correctly with option's modifiers
  • ability to sell simple products in packages or separately as by default
  • ability to set a new price for a product package or leave it as a sum of all products in the package
  • ability to apply total discount for all products in package
  • ability to display product packages in a new tab or in the main content on the product page
  • ability to apply total discount for product package
  • ability to apply discount for each product in package (by fixed amount, to fixed amount, by percentage of original price, to percentage of original price)
  • ability to enable/disable display options for each item of product
  • ability to set “Ignore modifiers” option for each product in package
  • ability to set “Hidden” status for any product in package
  • ability to set required products for packages
  • ability to displayed product options for package in storefront
  • ability to specify the number of columns for products in the package to be displayed in (!new).

Best regards,

In your demo store you have Inventory set to “Do not track”.

The most important part of an addon like this is that when a Package is purchased, it debits the inventory for each of the items included the package.

Example:

10 Teaspoons are in stock in the Teaspoon inventory.

1 Package is sold (which includes 6 Teaspoons).

Result: 4 Teaspoons remain in the Teaspoon inventory and the Package is now Out of Stock (because 6 Teaspoons are required for the Package).

Does your addon do this?

What happens on the 2nd sale when there are only 4 teaspoons in inventory, but the package requires 6? Is this then an out of stock item?

What are the features that the “buy_together” addon doesn't already provide? I'm sure this is an extension of that functionality but it's unclear as to what the added value is.

First off, this is a very nice idea and for only $39! The buy together is not a very good functionality as it is part of one product. We sell many, many packages and this could work out fine.

I played with the demo, it will update the inventory levels of the items in the group when a group is sold. But as Tony said, the grouped product inventory is set to “do not track”, and it cannot be changed.

We would have to have it be shown as out of stock if the other items are.

Jack

One of the major shortfalls of the buy_together addon is the inability to specify what options an item will use in the package. It appears they have addressed that.

Good for Cart-Power that they can invest in this development. When we looked at it several years ago, we couldn't justify the development expense (and the lack of real coordinated requirements) to pencil out.

Another valuable feature would be the ability to apply an option to the whole package (which would simplify my world). I.e. version=2 or finish=silver, etc.

If you add an option price modifier to any of the products in the package, the package fails to display in the store, but the addon does work with Inventory Tracking - it does debit the products in the package from inventory.

Great, much needed add-on for cs-cart! I like these new guys on the block :)

I think if the author can address some of these small issues, we are ready to buy and implement. But the inventory issue and options modifiers are a significant issue.

We are resolving these issues. We hope it will be done in the nearest days. We will notify you and another guys here as soon as new release will be done =)

Dear friends,

We are glad to inform you that we have released new version of “Product packages” add-on. It is working with options (options modifiers) and track stock correctly of all included products now.

We would like inform that we have increased the cost of add-on ($99 now), because of the complexity of the add-on.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Very cool. I too am liking having a little more variety or options on addons. Now I've got to see if I can fit them in to what we do.

Dear Friends!

We upgraded our add-on “Product Packages”! Now it is smarter and more functional.

Guys,

We would like to inform you that Product Packages add-on is compatible with CS-Cart and Multivendor 4.3.x.

Thank's.

what is the diference from buy together ?

This is going to be an important addon for us, if only it can do one more thing.

Its all about eBay sync and correct handling of inventory for eBay orders.

To sync with eBay, a cscart Product's Option Combinations are sync'd with the eBay Item's Option Variants.

Thus it occurs to me that a Product Package addon needs either:

a. An extra "Package Combinations" function that can correctly associate, for ebay orders, the eBay variant to the exact option combination of each product of the package.

Or

b. Modification to the existing option combinations functionality to allow a secondary products options to be part of the package Option Combinations.

This way, when eBay Orders are downloaded/syncd to cscart, each product listed in the order/invoice will have the correct options selected.

I know this would need to hook into the ebay addon some how, but something like this is needed to correctly handle inventory and Pick/Pack for ebay listings when they are, in reality a package of products.

We currently sell kits on eBay that actually consist of up to 4 different products, the Main product has no options and one of the packaged products has 12 options, thus, unless I'm mistaken, cscart still wont handle ebay orders correctly....on the invoice/packing list.

I just purchased this product and installed it in my 4.3.x and it installed fine, but what I can't seem to find is any option to show the products in the package in the cart without having to click on "click here for more details". Customers should be able to see what they are purchasing in the package without having to jump thru hoops.

I have an embroidery business and lets say I setup a package for GL1800 Goldwing to be embroidered on a solid color hat. The customer selects the color of the hat and then adds to cart. When they view the cart is there any way to show: GL1800 Embroidery on 1 line and 1 blue hat on another? I'm doing this because right now I have about 20 options for embroidery on the hats in a drop down and it's confusing to some customers.

If this can't do what I need then let me know and I will request a refund.

Please, send it to our email sales@cart-power.com we will fix it for you.

Thank you.

Further to my rantings above... to help cope with inventory tracking and eBay sync... and allow dependent combinations..

Why not have it function such that the secondary products are actually added to the primary via the Option Combinations screen rather than the separate tab?

I received an email from Leonid Koshcheev stating that they had modified the product so you can select to show the items in the package without having to click to view. I asked him if this was in the download now so if I repurchase it, would I get the modified version.

Still haven't heard an answer back from him. I've attached the screenshot he included in the email to me.

So I bit the bullet and bought the add-on again.. it seems that yes, it does have the options in the settings that I wanted.. Too bad I can't activate the add on with the License Key that is showing on my order detail page for todays purchase. WTF?

So they fixed it.. I bought it.. and I can't activate it.
