Remove email from Guest checkout option

Has anyone taken the E-mail requirement out of the Guest Checkout option yet? That will cause a lot of buyers to balk…it really should be an option to ask for that. I am going to attempt to remove it but wanted to check if anyone had done it yet so I don't have to re-invent the wheel.

And how do you expect to deliver order confirmation or to notify them of re-stock or any number of things. If they are serious about actually going through the checkout process, I'd think their email address would be one of the least of their worries when entering information on an unknown merchant's site.

It's just the perception of initially asking for the email address. You still get the email address when they enter data on step one. I don't see the purpose of asking for it before clicking the “guest” button…

Then why not just comment it out?

I recognize this is an old post, but can someone answer whether or not this can be done without breaking something in the system? I'd like to capture the email later on in the process when the user enters in their information…

Hi there

I had only removed the whole div that contains the field. I dont see how you can go on without mail, as this all is ajax driven…

Fotis
