eBay integration
Posted 26 August 2011 - 02:14 AM #61
Cool, I'm glad you are interested. I'm thinking about having this up for a week or something to see how many other people would be interested. I'd sure rather split this amongst 4 people rather than just us two. Does that sound ok?
Jim,
I'd imagine that Alt-Team could just truncate the title, but I don't see how any script could rewrite it to make sense.
As for links in the site, can a script remove the links, but make the description still make sense? I haven't seen that. I highly doubt this addon would work for everyone. I'm sure that things could be added to fancy it up, but that would also mean that the price would go up.
The site that I'm doing this for would have to have the product titles truncated, but there are no links in the descriptions so this wouldn't be a factor to me.
I also agree that it would be nice if this was supported by CS-Cart or a reseller, but as of right now, I don't see that and since CS-Cart has had this "planned" forever now and we haven't seen anything from them, I'm not holding my breath.
Anyways, just my thoughts.
Thanks,
Brandon

On the links in a description, I'm not for sure what would have to be done there. The only thing I can think of again is if there is a different "ebay description field" that is filled out like the title.
There were some other quarks with bigc's system of uploading to ebay, but I can't remember them all.

The secondary description thing would be more complicated. I'm not sure how all of your descriptions are, but could you imagine having to write your description twice and put it into each product twice? This would be a pain in the ass.
I will mention this to Alt-Team and see what they have to say. Like I said, the title would be totally easy, but I'm not sure about the description.
Thanks,
Brandon

RESPONSE FROM ALT-TEAM: We can implement the setting that sets the limit on title length.
OUR QUESTION: I also need to be sure that any links are removed from the description before the product is put on Ebay. Is this possible?
RESPONSE FROM ALT-TEAM: We will truncate html tags from description text and link's tags will truncate too.
OUR QUESTION: Also, will all products be set to a Buy It Now price? That is what we want.
RESPONSE FROM ALT-TEAM: Yes, ebay API allow implement this functionality, we can realize it.
OUR QUESTION: And lastly, there are others on the forum that are willing to split the cost of having this developed. Can my client pay for the addon now and I can then split the costs of the addon with the other people afterwards? I have no intention of reselling this addon, but I am just wanting to split the costs of development.
RESPONSE FROM ALT-TEAM: It suits us, but then give us a list of domains on which will be installed add-on. We put them in our license checking server.

Please post any response if you have them.

I have some updates though.
I'm going to post my conversations with Alt-Team. Please read through the whole thing before just jumping to conclusions. I feel the result is fair, but I'm good with whatever.

We do have one concern though.
You said: It suits us, but then give us a list of domains on which will be installed add-on. We put them in our license checking server.
What does that mean? Will this actually be licensed and have a call back to your server? We don't want this to do this. I understand that you might not want us to resell this addona and that isn't what we are tying to do by sharing it and splitting the costs with other people, but at the same time, we don't want this to be licensed with call backs.
If we pay to have this developed, we feel it should be our to do what we feel is fit.
Can you please clarify the license thing?
Thank you,
Brandon

Maybe we will sell this addon. The list of domains we need just in case, if customers want to update your add-on to the new version. They can do it for free for one year. The first version of the addon, which we will develop for you will be free of any call back to our server.
Thank you.

So I'm going to pay you $840 to do this addon and then you might resell it yourself? So I'm paying you to develop something that you will then turn around and resell to everyone else for a fraction of the amount that I've paid you? This doesn't seem fair to me.
I'm all for you reselling this and keeping it updated, but if this is the case, we should get some type of discount.
Also, can all of the initial investors get no license check?
Thanks,
Brandon

This is Stanislav. We are sorry for the delay in answering.
We will develop this addon for you and for all investors without license check. We only need to know who are this investors (domain names) for future upgrade. Any upgrades may be available only if we decide to resell this addon.
Please, let us know if you still interested in this addon.
Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
Stanislav Gurenkov
So, this is the way I see it. For anyone who would like to be part of the initial investment, there will be NO license check. Also, if Alt-Team decides to resell this addon, we (the initial investors) will receive free upgrades for one year.
To me, this sounds like a good deal. Personally, I'd like it if Alt-Team would develop this for resale. It would mean that this addon would be supported and we would have free upgrades for 1 year.
What do you guys think? Also, I don't plan on getting banned again so I plan on getting this going.
Let me know.
Thanks,
Brandon

I'm planning on having Alt-Team develop an Ebay integration addon so it is completely separate from the other addons discussed here on this thread.
If you read back through my posts over the last page or two, you should get a good idea of what this addon will do and if it will work for you.
I don't believe it will handle inventory management though, sorry.
Thanks,
Brandon

Likewise, if the alt-team wants to just develop it and then it would have a license check, I would still buy it from them. It would be a good mod for everyone to have access to. I honestly would hate for them to develop it for us and then they decide to not offer it to the community. I believe it would be better if they agree that they will sell it to the community so that way it helps out more and more will have access to it later.

I'm also confused as to whether it just listing the items as "auctions" or as "buy now". If it is doing them as "auctions" I am guessing there is a way to put an amount in?
I guess I really didn't think it through, but the description given is pretty generic. Are we sure it will work with what you have listed? It's not really a matter of what I want or someone else wants, it's a more a matter that some of the pieces to the puzzle are missing or just not listed.
I would hope for the price it would include the category and basically everything that something like "TurboLister" does on the listing portion.

I contacted Alt-Team and directed them towards this thread and was hoping that they'd have some answers, but so far they haven't.
They've actually completed 2 other addons for me since I put in that request.
I'm hoping that they are thinking about developing this and then selling it and that is why they haven't let me know more about it.
My last post to them was on 9/13 so it has definitely been a few days. I actually just sent another message to them requesting an update on what is going on.
I know my client and myself would really like to get this done so I'm hoping that we'll all be able to figure something out.
Thanks,
Brandon
