Buy One Get One Free Problem

Hi All,

We offer a few BOGOF deals on our site on various products and Ive set up Buy One Get One Free for a product in the promotions section.

This was fairly straight forward, however you have to specify a product qty such as 1.

This is where the problem arrises. If you add 2 of the said item to the cart you dont get 2 free.

Is there a way to make it buy x get x free?

Unfortunately, no. There is a feature request in the Bug Tracker to address this:

You should add your interest there.

I’ve added my comments to the bug tracker.

I must admit I can’t believe that this is the case.

What’s even worse is you cant add instances of the same product either with a value of 2-2 3-3 4-4 etc. to get round the problem.

Update, you can do the above but you have to create separate promotions. Very Messy!

Mark-

No question that this needs work. Hopefully they can spend some time and address a number of the promotions-related requests in the near future.

I am particularly disgusted that there’s no way for a customer to choose a free product. This is a basic sale that any cart must have. I have spent 3 days with a client messing with the Configurator and the Buy Together addons and the Product Options feature to try to get something to work. In the middle of it all, the Promotions module malfunctioned and caused several customers to be charged incorrectly.

CS-Cart needs to fix this ASAP.

Have you reported the malfunction to the developers? I don’t see anything in the Bug Tracker.

Any idea on how I can offer a customer a choice of a free product?

Thanks for reporting the bug.

i can’t think of anyway to allow a choice of free product. This would be a really nice enhancement. Why not add it to the Bug Tracker as a Feature Request (please don’t report it as a bug where you might get the “Working as Designed” status).

Ok, I added the feature request. In the meantime, I have to figure out a way to offer a couple of free products from a specific category.

I have set up a cart promo where :

  1. Item must be from selected list ( all items have same price $6.99)
  2. Number of items in the cart is 4 or more

bonus: credit of $6.99 at the check out

This way the clients simply get credit that equals one of the product making it 1 free.

the problem I have encountered is that when clients pick 4 of the same items, promo stops working. Not sure why. When they pick 3+1, 2+2, or 1+1+2, it works, as long as there are 2 different products in the cart. I was told that this may require custom option and it’s extra.

it looks to me more like a bug in the system.

    Any thoughts?

Any update?
